Some people may look at this picture and see a group of boys just playing around with a large yoga ball. An early childhood educator would see much more...
When deciding to become an early childhood teacher you also have to be willing to accept the role of being an advocate for early learning and developmentally appropriate practices. So for those who seek daily worksheets, site word drill skills and daily homework in a preschool classroom, This may not be the field for you. Purposeful play, conversation and exploration will always be staples in preparing children for school readiness and positive future academic achievement. Purposeful play is about learning how to get along with others: cooperation, learning self - control, empathy, language, independence, and problem - solving abilities, persistence, creative thinking and knowledge about the world around them. I personally feel that a big part of being ready for school is having the opportunity to develop these skills not only in a classroom atmosphere but at home and in the community as well.
